Sydney Metro Western Sydney Airport – Airport Business Park

This project involved the provision of 11MVA HV supply to the tunnel boring machines at Airport Business Park, a key construction site instrumental to the success of Western Sydney Airport. It included the design of 2 x 22KV feeders from Kemps Creek Zone substation to the Airport Business Park site at Badgerys Creek. The scope included scoping across all project sites, engaging with multiple stakeholders (including the Airport, TFNSW, Crown Land, Councils, Sydney Water, and local residents), and handling significant challenges such as major creek crossings and the installation of underground cables through areas with significant vegetation, private land, and private airport land. The design was completed to certification under time and cost, leading to a Letter to Proceed from Endeavour Energy to Sydney Metro.

Client Benefits

Sydney Metro Western Sydney Airport – Aerotropolis Core Site

The project involved installing a 6.5MVA 22KV supply from Bringelly Zone Substation to the Aerotropolis Core Site at Badgerys Creek Road, including a 5km long underground feeder for a Tunnel Boring Machine Supply. The technical challenges included coordinating with Endeavour Energy for upgrades to Bringelly Zone substation and integrating various competing designs for the Northern Road re-alignment project. Coordination with various utilities, including Jemena for LFI studies, was also required. The project was completed to certification, leading to a Letter to Proceed from Endeavour Energy to Sydney Metro.

Sydney Metro Western Sydney Airport – Orchard Hills TBM Supply

This project involved installing 2 x 11KV HV feeders from Claremont Meadows zone substation to the future Orchard Hills Station core drilling site. The scope included extensive feeder pinch point modelling to ensure required capacities, a complicated M4 crossing requiring coordination with underbore experts and the RMS, and achieving earthing compliance in a challenging environment. The design was completed to certification, resulting in an approved drawing handover to constructors ahead of schedule.

Sydney Metro Western Sydney Airport – SSTOM 5MVA TBS

This project involved supplying 5MVA to the SSTOM construction site at Badgerys Creek through the design of a 6km 22KV HV underground feeder. It included scoping across all project sites to inform the concept design stage, and negotiations with Crown Land, RMS, and Western Sydney Airport to ensure compliance with statutory and legislative property tenure requirements. Extensive modelling of the feeder pinch points in CYMCAP was successfully completed. The design was completed to certification, resulting in a Letter to Proceed from Endeavour Energy to Sydney Metro.

Transdev Zero Emission Buses Feasability Study

This project involved conducting a feasibility study for installing electric bus charging infrastructure across Transdev’s State Transit Authority region 9 bus depots. Extensive site visits were conducted to determine requirements from both a supply and private reticulation perspective. Concept ASP3 and private reticulation designs were developed and completed on time and under budget.
